Default Some info from Avizandum on the Biodiversity Act

All of the following article has been source from the May edition of the Avizandum.

These are some of the highlights from the article:-
  • Some agencies do not want to see any animal, bird etc. in captivity that occurs anywhere in the world in the wild
  • If this were to happen it would devistate our hobbies
  • The minister has said he would consider motivations
  • The Animal Interest Alliance has been formed to represent our interests
  • We need to find persons who have contact with the conservation agencies
  • On three seperate occassions David Dennison attended public meetings where the conservation people outnumbered the breeders and keepers
  • The authorities view is that every hand reared baby parrot ends up in an Animal Resue Facility
  • According to food stats from Avi-Products, thousands of parrots are raised each year that end up as pets
  • The authorities are ill informed
  • The conservation agencies have a role to play in providing controls and ensuring that there is no animal cruelty involved when animal are kept in captivity

Lets get talking and take some action
